What does "natural" mean?

Although there is not a nationally recognized criteria for products to be considered natural, we believe that “natural” means that our products never contain high-fructose corn syrup, trans fat, hydrogenated oils, preservatives or any artificial colors or flavors. You can be assured that Nature’s Indulgence Granola is as close to nature as possible.

What's the best way to store my Nature's Indulgence granola to keep it fresh?

It is best to store your Nature’s Indulgence Granola in a cool, dry place and be sure you keep the resealable closure tightly shut.

What is the shelf life for Nature's Indulgence granola?

We conducted an independent shelf life study for Natures Indulgence on their five flavors of granola products; Vanilla Nut, Nutberry Maple, Cherry Chocolate and Cranberry Almond. The main focus of the study was to determine if the product remained fresh. In order to determine freshness, we monitored organolepic properties over time. Based on our accelerated shelf life testing, where we exposed the granola to increased temperature (40C) and increased humidity (75%) we found that the granola was stable for at least 7 months under normal shelf conditions.

What is gluten?

Gluten is typically defined as a "protein in wheat, barley and rye".

Are oats "gluten free"?

Yes, oats are naturally gluten free, however contamination with gluten containing grains during growing or milling is common. The concern is that if oats are grown in a field that previously grew other gluten containing grains, some of those other gluten-containing grains will naturally grow in the oat field the next year, which will then cause the oats harvested from that field to be contaminated. Contamination can also take place at the mill when the oats are rolled.

Is gluten bad for everyone?

No, just those who have intolerance or have been diagnosed with celiac disease.

Why eat gluten free?

People who have been advised by their doctor to eat gluten free foods. This would include, but not limited to, people diagnosed with celiac disease, or gluten intolerance. For more information on celiac disease or on testing involved, consult your family doctor.

We have explored the possibility of using organic ingredients in all of our products. At this time, it is prohibitively expensive for us to use organic ingredients in all of our granola products. We absolutely value organic ingredients and, as we grow, we will continue to explore this option. Because we believe in “doing our part”, we purchase our ingredients either locally or from small, independent farms.
